The Canton Squirts regained thier composure and made great strides to correct an earlier season 8-1 loss at the hands of the Metcalfe-Russell River Rats. In an unconventional Sunday night tilt at the Cornwall Civic Center, the Bears got on the board first. Nate Boak dazzled the crowd (waiting to watch the junior A game) when he picked up a loose puck on the blueline and effortlessly weaved through the River Rats defense and confidently slid the puck past the sprawling goaltender. Canton managed to hold the lead well into the third period utilizing a balanced defensive effort and strong goaltending from Langston Lamitie. With just under 5 minutes to play, Metcalfe was able to light the lamp on a scramble in front. The game ended in a tie however, the teams play demonstrated a vast improvment from thier last matchup in November. The kids enjoyed the opportunity to play in a classic Junior A rink that has housed the Cornwall Royals (OHL), Cornwall Aces (AHL), and most recently the Cornwall Colts.
