Registration For The 2017-18 Season Now Open

Opportunities for players age 8 and under

    • Cub Club ($125) - This is Canton Minor Hockey’s Initiation Program.  Generally players range in age from 3-5.  The program is intended to introduce children to the basics of skating and eventually using a stick. The program begins in November and runs for approximately 15 weeks with players on the ice twice a week for about 30 mins per ice session.  Players that have already developed a comfort with skating and are ready to try hockey should sign up for the Mini Mite program rather than Cub Club.
      • Coordinator:  Nick Maneely

    • Mini Mites ($375) – Mini Mites serves as an introduction to the basics of hockey for 2011 & 2012 birth years. As the season progresses players are introduced to concepts such as advanced skating techniques, passing, shooting, and stickhandling.  The Mini Mite program runs for about 20 weeks with players on the ice on average 3 times per week for approximately 50 minutes per ice session.  A limited number of play days are scheduled with other local area programs throughout the season.
      • ADM Coordinator:  Bryan Parker

    • Mites ($375) - The Mite program continues many of the skill development areas from Mini Mites adding an elevated level of competition, skill development and general hockey awareness for 2009 & 2010 birth years.  The Mite program runs for about 20 weeks with players on the ice on average 3 times per week for approximately 50 minutes per ice session.  The travel and game play at the Mite level becomes slightly more extensive throughout the county or local area.  Note: Players with 2009 birth years will be eligible to participate in the Canton House League for an additional $100 fee.
      • Coordinator:  Kevin Logan

Players age 9 and older -  All options listed below are dependent on sufficient registrations.

    • Canton House League ($200) - This option is for Boys and Girls that are only interested in limited hockey throughout the season.  Note: Players registering with the Bears Squirt or Pee Wee  teams will automatically be part this program.
      • 1 hour clinic or house league game every Monday

    • Blades House Travel ($375) - This option is for girls ages 9 - 14 that are interested in participating on girls only limited travel team. The team will run for approximately 20 weeks skating 1-2 times per week.  While this may be the primary team for some, we anticipate participation from some of the players on the 11U & 13U Blades travel teams.   We expect the schedule will consist of a limited number of games depending on the availability of local competition.  Note: Registering for this team includes participation in the Canton House League and clinic.

    • Squirt Travel ($500) – The Squirt travel program is open to girls and boys with 2007 & 2008 birth years.  The team(s) will run for approximately 20 weeks skating on average 3 times per week.  We expect the schedule will consist of approximately 15-20 home games and 15-20 away games.  They generally participate in 3-4 tournaments during the season.  Tournament play is at the discretion of the team as are all associated costs.  Players should expect travel to be moderate within the county or local area with occasional trips to Canada and or Central NY.  If there are not sufficient numbers to support a team at this age classification, players will be combined with the Pee Wee age classification.   Note: Registering for this team includes participation in the Canton House league and clinic.

    • Pee Wee Travel ($525) The Pee Wee travel program is open to girls and boys ages with 2005 & 2006 birth years.  The team will run for approximately 20 weeks skating on average 3 times per week.  We expect the schedule will consist of approximately 20 home games and 15-25 away games.  They generally participate in 3-4 tournaments during the season.  Tournament play is at the discretion of the team as are all associated costs.  Players should expect travel to be moderate within the county or local area with occasional trips to Canada and or Central NY.  Based on registration numbers, there may be more than one team at this age classification.  Note: Registering for this team includes participation in the Canton House league and clinic.

    Proud Participant

Canton Minor Hockey participates in the OEMHL at the Atom, Pee Wee & Bantam AA level under the name St. Lawrence Steel.  We look forward to growing our involvement in the league in future seasons.

    ABOUT ST.LAWRENCE STEEL

St. Lawrence Steel was initiated by CMH in 2013 at the Bantam Minor level to provide a Opportunity for kids within the region to play in the very competitive Ontario Minor Hockey League (“OEMHL”) in Canada.  This cross-border participation has been endorsed by both USA Hockey and Hockey Canada.  The formation of Steel teams allows the most competitive regional teams in our county to have consistent games against teams of the same or better caliber all within an approximately 60 mile radius of Canton.  The league is a “home and home” schedule wherein half of the approximate 35 league games are played on home ice in Canton, Potsdam or area rinks designated by the team.  The formation of regional teams often comes with the expense and time of traveling great distances to find appropriate competition. Consistent OEMHL league play allows for better competition, less expense and much more convenience, all near home.  CMH is now expanding the Steel concept into additional age groups.  For further information regarding these teams, please email cantonminorhockey@gmail.com .
